ABOUT US : Mission and Values of FBC
The Mission of First Baptist Church of Galax is:
- To make Christ known through love,
- To minister to people’s diverse needs,
- To provide an atmosphere of worship and praise,
- To grow together toward Christ-like maturity,
- To equip all for ministry in the church, community, and world.
Church Covenant, based upon our organizational statement of 1905: Having been, as we trust, brought by Divine Grace to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ and to give ourselves wholly to Him, we now solemnly and joyfully covenant with each other to walk together with Him in Christian love, to His glory, as our common Lord. We do therefore, in His strength, engage:
- That we will exercise a Christian care and watchfulness over each other, and faithfully warn, exhort, and admonish each other as occasion may require.
- That we will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, but will uphold the public worship of God and the ordinances of His house.
- That we will engage to maintain family and personal devotions and shall not neglect the great duty of spiritually training our children and those under our care for the service of Christ and for the edification of our Christian brothers and sisters.
- That we will practice sobriety in our habits, seek to lead our kindred and acquaintances to know Christ as their personal Savior, to walk circumspectly in the world, to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger, and, as God has prospered us, we will give of our means to the support and maintenance of this church, the relief of the poor, and to the spreading of the gospel to all people everywhere.
- That we will in all conditions, even until death, strive to the glory of Him who hath called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
- “And may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, the great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make us perfect in every good work, to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever, Amen.”
